Photographing Sara and Brian's engagement session at the CNE last August was a blast. It also demonstrated just how creative and fun it would be to photograph Sara and Brian on their wedding day so Sheena and I had April 3, 2011 highlighted in our calendar. Sara and Brian exchanged their vows at the Paramount Event Venue in Richmond Hill, ON, however, the day was not simply limited to the action at the venue. We first met Sara and her bridesmaids getting ready for the day in their hotel room where we enjoyed listening to all the stories and feeling the excitement for the day slowly build. Sheena also scoped out some spots for us to take the dress and ring shots. She found a large mirror down the hall that we used to take advantage of some visual distortion where the reflection of dress multiplied and created a great linear pattern. After spending time with Sara and her bridesmaids, we met Brian and then photographed the first time they saw each other all dressed up for the ceremony. The hotel had an awesome chandelier that I knew would create a perfect visual element to compliment Sara and Brian's embrace and interaction during this time.
We then drove with Sara and Brian around the area and found a wicked construction wall that fit perfectly with the warm diffused sunlight and Sara and Brian's wedding colours that they chose. I quickly pulled over the car and had Sara and Brian jump out and have some fun near one end of the wall. It's great to work with a couple that doesn't need any posing help as they can work off raw love for one another.
The rest of the day was filled with the excitement of the ceremony where Brian danced in down the aisle to meet his parents. The reception was packed with amazing music, fun speeches and lots of dancing and games.
We wish Sara and Brian all the best in life and we so happy to be a part of their big day!
