Nicole and Mike are definitely a perfect match for one another and Sheena and I really got to notice this while working with them during their engagement session in the summer and finally while photographing their memorable wedding day in the beginning of September. The day started out at Nicole's house in Bolton, Ontario where we arrived in the morning to catch her and her family hanging out and enjoying each others' company. We used the time to take some pictures of Nicole's dress and tried to incorporate some elements of her home to compliment the dress. We decided to hang it in her front door frame and photograph it from outside. For us, it is extremely important that our images not only capture the important details but also include aspects of the setting to create deeper context. Next up, it was time for Nicole to put on her dress. It's always nice to observe mom and dad's reaction to seeing their daughter step into her dress for the last time. Of course, the bride always has such an excited look on her face as well and Sheena and I make sure we capture all these emotions and reactions as they're happening. After taking some pictures in the backyard, we headed off to the Embassy Grand in Brampton, Ontario where we met Mike and his groomsmen to snap some pictures of the guys doing their final touch ups (i.e. learning how to knot a tie and looking for their boutonnieres :). Before we knew it, the guests were arriving and Sheena and I had a lot of time to capture friends and family chatting and enjoying the most visceral part of the day. Then, after Nicole and Mike exchanged vows and kissed as husband and wife for the first time, it was off to a local gardens where we had about 2 hours to spend time with them under a beautiful bright blue sky. Nicole and Mike were so patient and flexible that we actually wandered all around the gardens and then made our way to a small amusement park on the grounds before ending at a small boat house where Nicole and Mike had a short little dance atop of the stairs.
The reception at the venue was so much fun and was filled with hilarious games, speeches that had even the servers tearing up (at least that's how it felt) and lots of dancing. We want to thank Nicole and Mike for trusting us with such an important role of photographing their wedding day. We had such a wonderful time doing it and wish the newlyweds a wonderful life together!
