October 22, 2011 was such an unforgettable day for Sheena and I as we photographed Marielle and Greg's wedding at One King West in downtown Toronto. This was the first wedding where Sheena and I were both guests AND photographers so it was a bit of a change of routine for us. We first arrived at the hotel and met up with Greg and the crew to snap some pictures of the guys getting ready and having fun in their hotel suite. Since most of the guys in the wedding party are also some of my best friends, it was fun to be a part of the action and to be able to photograph it as well. Then, we moved to the bridesmaids suite to photograph Marielle and the girls putting on their finishing touches and helping the bride put on her dress for final fitting. Then, we were ready to jump in the limo and head over to the Guilds at the Scarborough Bluffs to take to some amazing pictures of the wedding party as well as Marielle and Greg. The location was fabulous and we used a mix of the natural beauty as well as the historical monuments and pillars to frame everybody. The weather was also on our side as the forecast was calling for rain, however, we were presented with a crisp, overcast afternoon which really worked in our favor.
Once back at the hotel, it was time for Marielle and Greg to finally tie the knot! The ceremony went off without a hitch and the couple was even serenaded by a choir singing special songs that played a significant role in Marielle and Greg's relationship. Then, it was time for the big night where Sheena and I transformed into guests/photographers. We set up our lighting to get ready for the couple's big entrance as well as their first dance that would take place later on. In between, Sheena and I enjoyed the fabulous food and drinks (it was so nice to be able to relax and enjoy a meal at a wedding instead of eating with our gear in hand and one eye on the action always ready to get up at any moment to photograph the action).
However, before we packed away our gear and entered official 'party mode', we wanted to take a couple of pictures of the guys downstairs in the old bank vault which was so much fun.
Both of us had an incredible night of being able to do what we love (documenting a bride and groom's wedding day) as well as being guests at some of our best friends' wedding and celebrating the night with them.
We wish Marielle and Greg an amazing honeymoon in Italy and we can't wait to catch up with them and hear all the details when they return!
