What do you get when you mix a lot of wind, a bit of rain, choppy waves, and an amazing couple about to get married? You get great pictures and a crazy fun wedding for Laura and Brian who were married on Saturday, March 24 at Ten Restaurant + Wine Bar in Toronto, Ontario. Sheena and I were contacted by Laura and Brian a while back to have us photograph their ceremony followed by pictures of the bride and groom immediately following so we had a lot of work to do in a short amount of time. Sheena and I arrived early so that we could set up some lights for the ceremony and capture some details of the venue after it was set up before the guests arrived. We really loved the enormous amount of natural lighting coming in through the large windows surrounding the restaurant and used this as much as possible in our photography. The ceremony was very intimate and filled with lots of laughter as Laura and Brian were closely surrounded by their friends and family. After tying the knot and walking back down the aisle as husband and wife, Sheena and I had about an hour to work with Laura and Brian. Having previously scouted out the area, Sheena and I knew exactly where we wanted to take the couple. We made our way through the local neighbourhood using various elements of windows, reflections, garage doors, puddles and parking pads. Right as we were walking to the lake, the rain started so we all worked through it and enjoyed the experience. We did find lots of funky places near the water to pose the couple and then I had a great idea to have Laura and Brian embrace each other close to the crashing waves, but just far enough away as not to get drenched. It was a great idea and worked perfectly until yours truly got unexpectedly slammed by a lot of water that seemed to come out of nowhere. It was a funny moment and I'm just happy that I a) got the picture and 2) managed to avoid any equipment damage.
Then, just as quickly as the day started, it was over as we finished the last of the family pictures and had to let Laura and Brian go to enjoy the rest of their evening and celebration. Congratulations and we can't wait to hear the details from the rest of the night!
