We first met Jennifer and Sam for their engagement session last May and that's when Sheena and I really had a chance to get to know them as individuals and as a couple. Jennifer was extremely involved in her wedding plans and Sam was great at agreeing with those plans. Jennifer and Sam were such a pleasure to work with and Sheena and I always remember Sam adding in his sense of humour and playfulness into each image, even if we told him not to. This is the main reason we were so excited to photograph their wedding and the other reason is because it was at the chic Arcadian Court in the heart of downtown Toronto. We met Jennifer to start the day while she was taking in the excitement and making sure last minute plans were in place. Even before Sheena and I were finished with Jennifer, Sam arrived early and was waiting for us. Rarely do we see the groom arrive on time, let alone early, so I knew Sam was ready to pose for the camera. After photographing the dress, rings and Jennifer getting into her dress for the last time, we had some fun with Sam and his groomsmen and I learned quite a lot about them and what they do on the weekends. Then it was time to work with Jennifer and Sam alone. We started inside the venue since it had so many amazing photographic features to it. After that, we headed outside to the streets and strolled around Queen and Bay moving in and out of places, finding waterfalls and stopping for coffee. Meeting up with bridal party was next where we continued our jaunt outside and then it was time for the big show.
The ceremony in the open loft space of the Arcadian Court overlooked Old City Hall and mixing in beautiful light, warm candles and emotional guests, all the elements seemed to come together for Jennifer and Sam to become husband and wife. Then it was time to party and eat... and drink and that's what Sheena and I spent most of the night photographing as we tried to capture all the laughs, tears and emotion of the family and guests. We barely had a chance to even say goodnight to Jennifer and Sam since they were so busy dancing and enjoying their night. Congratulations and all the best,
Gary + Sheena
