Sheena and I feel so fortunate to have been a part of Cecily and Michael's amazing wedding day that took place on September 10, 2011 at the spectacular Boulevard Club in Toronto, Ontario. I know we seem to say this often, but the weather couldn't have been more perfect for this end-of-summer celebration by the lake. Sheena and I arrived at the Boulevard Club early to do a walk around and find some locations that would reflect the fun, easy-going relationship that defines Cecily and Michael. I knew they were extremely laid back and carefree from meeting the couple several times prior to the big day, so we chose backgrounds and locations that were clean, colourful, and simple. Due to some time restraints, we also knew that we'd need a plan of action to ensure that we took full advantage of the venue and surrounding area. The bridal room (where Cecily got ready in) was perfect for a quick shot of the dress as well as Cecily showing off her dress to her family and friends. Immediately after that, we took the couple down the street to a small park just to the west of the Boulevard Club. At first glance, nothing seems to jump out about this park, however, I did notice some nice open shade as well as a small, secluded beach that we used to pose Cecily and Michael against the backdrop of the city. We then headed back to the venue to use the patterns and symmetry of the docks and yachts to frame Cecily and Michael as they danced and embraced. Then, we set up some lights for the intimate, candle-lit ceremony before making our way to the reception hall where the two were about to make their grand entrance as husband and wife for the first time.
The rest of the night included lots of dancing to an energetic and extremely talented band as well many emotional speeches and toasts by friends and family that ended with Cecily and Michael's moving words that had the majority of guests tearing up. Before we knew it, Sheena and I were saying good-bye as the dancing was just getting into full swing. I can't believe how fast the time flies from the first time I met Cecily and Michael to their wedding day. It reminds us how exciting life is and how we truly need to embrace each moment because time seems to move faster with each passing day. We want to thank Cecily and Michael for having us photograph their wedding and can't wait to see them again in the near future!
