Julie and Jarrod were so much fun to be around during the entire day and night back in mid-August when they tied the knot at the historical Artscape Wychwood Barns. We know the venue well and knew that the unique, urban, and TTC infused vibe was pretty much a perfect fit for both Julie and Jarrod's personalities. We started the day with the bride-to-be getting ready and enjoying the leisurely pace of the morning as the rising sun gave us amazing natural light coming in through the windows that almost completely surrounded us. We continued taking pictures of the important details and made a point of using the big features of the space like the enormous ancient wooden doors once used as an entry point for Toronto's streetcars as they needed repairs, or the names of those that helped restore the barns that hung vertically from the ceilings.
Shortly after, I found Jarrod hanging out near the main entrance so I spent a bit of time taking some pictures of him making sure we didn't yet run into Julie who was almost ready to see her groom for the first time. We asked Jarrod to wait in a shady spot beside an old brick door frame and then let the magic happen as Julie's friends and family snuck a peek from behind as Julie and Jarrod saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. We stayed in and around the area using specific spots that were meaningful to Julie and Jarrod who once lived in the neighbourhood together. But, they really wanted to include elements of the TTC as it plays and important role in their lives so that's what we did. We walked up to St. Clair and used the new streetcar platforms, street signs and, obviously, a streetcar itself zooming by.
The ceremony was so unique and allowed all the guests to watch Julie and Jarrod kiss under the chuppah before running back down the aisle as one of the happiest newlyweds I have ever seen. This set the mood for a night that was like no other. From the stunning decor and lighting that gave such a warm and intimate ambiance to the guests that refused to stop dancing at the end of the night, this evening was perfect in every way. And just when you would think it couldn't get any better, out came the donut cart and some of the best tasting donuts I've ever had. And, yes, I had more than one, or two.
We thank the amazing couple of Julie and Jarrod for having us spend their day with them and trusting us to capturing some of the most important moments of their lives.
