We loved Ashlee and Mike's determination to make this engagement session happen as scheduled... despite the imminent threat of a thunderstorm. We met down in the Portlands area which has one of the best views of the city. Personally, I love the dramatic feel that the heavy, sweeping clouds brought the images and, despite how many couples feel about rain during an engagement session, I think that it's simply a state of mind. To me, the ominous clouds juxtaposed with Ashlee and Mike's total love and happiness being around other brings out their character and strength. Well, it wasn't long after that the rain finally did come. We managed to find an over hang to run to close by. But, we continued to use our time and work with Ashlee and Mike using the reflections, patterned lights behind them and their umbrella to create some pictures. We were then presented with a brilliant sun, plenty of puddles and clear air once the rain passed which made way for one of the most colour saturated skies I have seen in a long time. This made the perfect backdrop to Mike's private serenade to Ashlee down by the lake. We had such a great time working with such an awesome couple and we can't wait for their big day coming up in October!
